| Abstract | An Entity- Relationship Diagram CERD> Normali2er and an ERO
Automatic Layout are built to assist database design. The ERO
Normali2er transforms non- normal form ERDs into the normal form.
The ERD Automatic Layout can display different kinds of ERDs
including regular and weak entities, regular and recursive
relationships, and weak relationships such as EXIST, ID, ISA,
UNI ON, INTERSECT, and DECOMPOSE relationships. The 1 ayout
mechanism uses the unification feature of Prolog to look for the
solution by searching the rules arranged in the order of
importance in the RULE BASE. A heuristic criteria is introduced
to arrange the rules. |
