| Abstract | In real life situations project organizations undertake
simultaneously multiple projects , projects require different
types of resources both storable and non - storable . The
availability of the resources are very often constrained and the
objective of management is to pursue multiple goals . Here we
attempt to study a multiple - project multiple - resource
constrained scheduling problem.
Literature shows the evidence that very little work has been
reported relating to this particular problem We make an attempt
here to conduct some studies by formulating two different models
the first one is the Integer Goal Programming model and the
other a Simulation model These two models are compared
according to some multiple criteria such as project slippage,
total project delay weighted project delay ,scheduling
efficiency and the resource idle time
The !GP considers multiple goals of management ,and the
simulation consists of different types of priority rules . These
two models have been applied to 1-project 3-resources, 2-project
3 - resources and 3 - project 3 - resources cases . A comparative
performance under these three situations h as been presented . It
is indicated that a project organization can select situation
based models in order to resolve the conflict between the top
management and the management at the execution level . |
