| Abstract | A study has been carried out on the application of the
Theory of Generalized Production Functions and the Variable
Elasticity of Substitution Production Function to three
industries: the sugar factory, the manufacture of drugs and
medicine, and the weaving of cotton and man - made fibers
industries. The analyses are directed at the investigation of the
effectiveness of the application of the theories ; and the
determination of the optimum scale of operation, and elasticity
of substitution value of each industry.
The Variable Elasticity of Substitution Production Function
cannot be effectively applied. On the other hand, the optimum
scale of operation of each industry is successfully determined,
and the results yield several interesting points for the
application of the theories.
All the models employed in this study are based on various
assumption; and thus, the results obtained are the solutions
under the presumed conditions. Consequently, any information
provided in this study has to be interpreted with care , and any
departure from the ideal situation should be examined. |
