| Abstract | This research proposes an outline of a language for helping
users construct expert s y stems of various kinds . The user can
apply different ways of representing and inferring knowledge in
many kinds of applications where cooperating among different
types of knowledge bases can be made possible for complex tasks.
The main advantage of such an approach is the enhancement of
freedom and adaptability.
Basically, the proposed language HESL , a Hybrid Expert
System Language, is an attempt to integrate frames and
production rules into a hybrid representation . To provide
flexible facilities for knowledge based prog ramming, HES L
includes features like multiple- formalism of knowledge representation (including frames, rules and logic), flexible inference
strategies (including forward, backward and hybrid chaining ),
multiple knowledge - base handling as well as flexible and dynamic
knowledge manipulation .
The author presents here the main features, design issues,
syntax , semantics a nd u sage of HESL together with its
corresponding mechanisms , as well as hi sin sights gains during
the design phase. |
