| Abstract | This research study tries to contribute to creating awareness in a very relevant topic for businesses and people in general and which will beconie:-:.a must to survive in the global market in the future. <Y:' Business world and customers' preferences have moved in the last decades from consumerism in the 1960s to socially responsible in 1990s, going through quality concern in the 1970s and environment concern in 1980s. Since business ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) came up in the business arena during the last decade, Multinational Corporations and also Small and Medium Enterprises have tried to become more responsible about what they do and how do they do it. SA 8000 was born in 1998 as the first voluntary, global and third pa1iy audit standard with multi-stakeholder approach. It is a working conditions standard. However, some companies are taking different approaches which help them, not only to implement it and fulfill the requirements but also, to improve productivity and management practices. Considering the multi-stakeholders approach of SA 8000, this research investigates and analyses the different opinions of interested parties in the implementation of SA 8000 in the Garment Industry in Thailand. This study recommends continuing working on Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives from a multi-stakeholder approach, as a source of competitive advantage for developing countries, as well as, a way to certify films' achievements in terms of ethical behavior. However, until one of the multiple existing initiatives becomes "the internationally accepted" one, this will be a tough duty. |
