| Abstract | Changes in transportation costs following the
inauguration of the second nus terminal in Chiang Mai ,
"Chiang Mai Bus Terminal II", were studied. Bus passenger
surveys were made through direct interviews to determine
travel patterns. Prior and subsequent bus travel time and
travel cost were investigated bus operating costs, and
passenger collection and distribution time and costs, were
evaluated. benefit s in nus operating cost, and penalties in
passenger travel time and travel costs, were determined.
It appeared that the inauguration of Chiang Mai
Bus Terminal Il was n of nenef1cial to b us terminal users
from the transportation point of view. Further
establishment of bus terminals in other provinces,
contemplated in the bus terminals Project of the Land
Transportation Department, should be carefully studied with
regard to economic considerations , not. only considering the
donation of land and buildings ab seems to have governed the
determination to install Chiang Mai Bus Terminal IT in the
public transportation system or Thailand.
Recommendations on bus terminal data collection ,
interviews, and observe were made to ensure further
appropriate study of bus terminals of Thailand |
