| Abstract | The study deals with membrane process and solar distillation
their applicability cost comparison and impact assessment.
For large scale production distillation like multistage flash
and vertical tube evaporation are the most suitable.
For medium scale production and for brackish water
electrodialysis and reverse osmosis are more suitable.
For small quantities solar distillation is more economical.
Solar stills are especially suited to supply drinking water f or
small communities, requiring up to 200 m ํ/d. Bence solar
distillation and applicability tor small scale water production
is studied at length. The impact of disposed brine to
surroundings is also studied. |
