| Abstract | This research study deals with item class design in an automated warehouse when class-based storage is used as the assignment policy.
The objective of t he class design is the maximiza tion of
system throughput capacity. The problem is represented as a mixed integer, nonlinear programming problem and is solved by an enumerative type of algorithm. The solution method is tested on a computer.
The impact on item c lass design by changing some of the
warehouse and item characteristics is studied with the aid of the model. |
