| Abstract | The present costs ot nuclear, coal- and oil-fired power
plants with an analysis of the cost breakdown and running
costs including operating and maintenance costs, fuel cycle
cost, etc., have been presented and projected for the f uture.
The overall economics have been considered along with the
questions of plant load factor. The obtained power cost of
nuclear plant is 18.766 mills per KWh, power cost of coal
plant is 19.766 mills per KWh and that of oil plant is 26.181
mills per KWh, at a discount rate of 83 per year and plant load factors of 65% and 75% for nuclear and fossil-fired plants respectively. Sensitivity analyses have been carried out considering various escalation rates on capital, O & M and
fuel costs, various plant load factors and discount rates, and
with changes in the construction schedule of the nuclear power
plant. |
