| Abstract | This study is on the development of an online monitoring and control
system for an academic division at AIT. The division of Computer
Applications is used as the case study. The existing system is first
analysed, and its characteristics viewed in the light of the information
requirements of the division. A system is then proposed that satisfies
the requirements identified in the analysis phase.
The Query-by-Example Database Management System (QBE) is used as the
major mechanism of data management. A set of PL/I programs provide the
program interface to the database.
Information may be retreived interactively by querying the database.
Reports are generated by the execution of stored queries or by application
programs. |
