| Abstract | In this research, observations were made on a two-dimensional
water jet impinging upon an inclined wall. From the results of the
experiments, functional relationships existing between the jet angle,
the angle of inclination of the wall, the Froude number of the flow
and the dependent variables such as the pressure distribution, the
size and shape of the profile of the jet transition, and the energy
losses, were established.
Three jet thicknesses were used; the jet angle was varied from
7.5° to 30° to the horizontal; and the angle of inclination of the
wall ranged from the vertical to 45° with the vertical.
The functional relationships existing between the variables are
presented in graphical form; these are expected to prove useful in
design work involving a two-dimensional jet of liquid impinging upon
a plane wall. |
