AbstractSeveral types of heave gage were developed and tested to choose the best one for measuring heave of soil due to pile driving in a site where large crossection concrete piles (.425 x .425 x 25.00 m,) were driven. Heave of soil was measured for single piles, groups of two piles and a group of four piles. For single piles, heave was assumed to have a symmetrical shape around the pile. For pile group, contours of equal heave were drawn. Local spots of high heave were observed scattered within the contour. The reason of this phenomina was not known. Volume of heave was estimated to be about 20 - 45 % of total volume of displaced soil. Boundary of soil effected by pile driving was found not changing when driving up to 4 piles,
