AbstractThis thesis presents the results of an investigation on the stress strain behaviour and shear strength characteristics of Weathered Bangkok Clay under triaxial extension conditions. 'Undisturbed' samples were taken at a depth of 2.5 meters to 3.0 meters from Nang Ngoo Hao Site. The samples were isotropically consolidated and then subjected to shearine under strain controlled conditions. Undrained Unloading , the undrained loading and drained unloading tests were carried out on samples in the apparent overconsolidated state. In addition, undrained unloading tests were also performed on the normally consolidated samples of Weathered Nang Ngoo Hao Clay. To study the effect of overconsolidation, tests were carried out under undrained unloading condition on samples of Weathered Nang Ngoo Hao Clay artificially overconsolidation in the laboratory. All the results are analyzed and comparisons are made between loading and unloading test conditions and also between the behaviour of the specimen under compression and extension condition. if were ever necessary the results are summarized in the form of tables and graphs.
