AbstractThis invest.igation deals with the post-cracki.ng deflection of rein forced concrete beams under short-time loads. The analysis is based on idealized elastic-perfectly-plastic stress-strain curves for both concrete and steel. The true moment-curvature curve of the beam is derived forming the basis for an idealized bi- linear moment-curvature curve which is then used in predicting the short-time deflections of reinforced concrete beams in flexure, The theoretical results obtained compare satisfactorily with existing experimental values as well as values obtained using the formulas suggested by Branson (ACI) and Yu and Winter.
