AbstractThe objective of this study is to evaluate a corrugated asbestos cement roof panel which is commonly used in roof construction for car-ports and low-cost houses in Thailand. In the analysis by an exact method, this panel is treated as a prismatic shell. The analytical results are compared with experimental values of deflections and stress resultants and these values are in satisfactory agreement. The analytical results are presented in charts for visual understanding of the behavior of the roof panel under combined dead and live loads. Parametric study was performed by changing the aspect ratios of the elements of the prismatic shell panel, keeping the span length and the total transverse width measured along the middle surface constant, to obtain a design proportion which cover the maximum projected roof area for the same amount of material.
