AbstractProblems confronting farmers are model led in a system dynamics framework. To get a clearer picture about farmers situation, their problems were first identified, was structured. Based from these problems, the model Problems about storage and cash are the major concern of t his research. Quality-wise, merchants storage are much better than farmers storage. is true with their financial situation. So Merchants are well financed than farmers. An overall picture of farmers situation is depicted in Fig. 4.1. This is the signed digraph of the system. Variables affecting the whole system under study are connected by directed arrows. This digraph served as basis for the modelling of the flow diagram in Fig. 4.2 (a,b,c,d,e ,f). Policies concerning storage loan and commodity loan as well as farmers policy regarding sales are tested. Storage loan is increased by 50 percent while commodity loan is increased by about 17 percent. A policy of farmers to reduce sales to merchants and increased sales to government and cooperatives is also tested. Four runs of the model are made. the Appendix. The graphs of prices are shown in Other outputs are also found in the Appendix.
