AbstractThis study is a preliminary analyses of Bangladesh Inland Water Transportation System that involves the analyses of various interacting and interrelated subsystems like River & Waterways, River Port, Mechanized vessel, Cargo Traffic etc. Predictions on future I.W.T. Cargo traffic volumes were made using Linear Regression & Exponential Model fittings and through Factor Analyses. A correlation coefficient of 0.98 was found for the two variables (i) tons of cargo carried and (ii) ton-miles of cargo moved through I.W.T. Besides, this study contains analyses of Narayanganj River Port. This consists of among other things, cargo traffic studies and projections for that port and an estimation of a portion of projected cargo traffic that is likely to avail port facilities offered by Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority.
