AbstractThis study deals with the characteristics of the textile industry in Taiwan for the period 1961 - 1972. An overall perspective of the development of textile industry is first described. This is followed by an analysis of the employment and wage structure. The production performance of the textile industry is then examined. The sales of the textile products and the financial structure of the textile industry are analyzed. Finally, the significance of the textile industry in relation to national economic development is examined. In this part, attempts are also made to assess the effects that the textile industry induces.
