| Abstract | This study recommends approximate expressions for determining the torsional and flexural rigidities of steel bridge decks with torsion ally stiff eccentric stiffeners. To define the deformation of an arbitrary point on the system, the analysis involves three orthogonal displacements instead of only one displacement as in the ordinary thin plate theory. The validity of these recommended stiff nesses were verified by subjecting a ribbed steel plate to anticlastic and cylindrical bending tests. In general, the experimental results obtained are in satisfactory agreement with the values predicted by the proposed expressions. |
