AbstractAccording to Miles\' theorem, wave generation is closely related to the curvature of wind profile at the critical height where wind velocity is equal to the wave celerity under the wind profile. This experimental results shows that it is very difficult to find the critical height at which wind profile is linear distribution or positive curvature distribution. Nevertheless, lower wave heights are observed when the wind profile is linear distribution or positive curvature distribution, even the critical height is not sure in the range of those distributions. Also, wind profile has a great change when it is over water wave surface. There must be some reasons between the energy transfer from air into waves and the change of wind profile. The wave generation is explained by a function of shear stress and roughness height along fetch in this thesis.
