AbstractThe research study, a part of the group project on the Design and Development of New Cities for Asia, aims to find out a transport vehicle suitable for the future new cities of Asia and to suggest the type of industrial set up needed to manufacture those vehicles" The research study assumes that the problems associated with the existing forms of transport vehicles as faced by the Western countries will equally be faced in future by this part of the world. It also assumes that technological advancements for finding a suitable transport vehicle taking place in advanced countries will find their place in Asian countries also. It has also been assumed that the personalized form of vehicle cannot simply be disinvested and will remain as a major mode of transporting people at least inside the city. The problems of small existing individual market for each country, a handicap for the development of manufacturing facilities of these vehicles has resulted in suggesting a suitable complimentary specialization plan by each participating country. Mutual cooperation among Asian countries, a key to development, is stressed in this study.
