| Abstract | The general purpose of this study is to classify and describe different kinds of control system at each management level in a typical batch production environment which was selected to be the Ta Luang Cement Factory of the Siam Cement Company, Thailand. The existing management control system of the Factory was first studied. At present the management utilizes the full capacity approach that is, the key production facilities are run 100 percent load at all times to supply the unlimited demand. In anticipation of more competitive situation in the cement industry of Thailand in the near future, a candidate system.is then proposed. The monthly operating plan is formulated through the linear - programming model for minimizing the operating costs of production and distribution activities. As a result of this formulation, the monthly budget concerning men, machines, and materials is then established as a basis for control. Design of associated reporting system is also made aiming at using it as a means for implementing the candidate system. The comparison between the existing and proposed management control systems are fully discussed. Realizing the importance of the time delay effect in management decision making process, an- industrial dynamic model is developed for both the existing and the proposed control systems. |
