AbstractAn analysis has been presented describing the distribution of sediment along the bottom of a tank, in which the sediment was introduced at the surface and settled under the action of gravity to the tank bottom. An analytical model, describing this phenomenon, was developed which enabled the experimental results to be presented in dimensionless from. Effects of various non-dimensional parameters, such as the dimensionless concentration Osg Co and the geometric relationships L and X were B L investigated over a considerable range of these parameters. The concentration along the bed was described by an exponential equation
