AbstractA solution for an orthotropic segmental annular plate, simply supported on the two straight edges, free on the curved edges and subjected to a concentrated load is presented in this study. The solution can be applied to the analysis of curved girder bridge systems. The method of analysis used is based on the concept of treating an equivalent orthotropic plate which models the behavior of the actual structure. Orthotropy due to both material properties and cross- sectional shape is taken into account. The solution is given in terms of a single concentrated load, and the effect of truck loading is obtained by superposition. The behavior of the bridge subjected to a uniformly distributed load is also studied. The results calculated by means of the proposed solution are compared with those obtained by another method.
