| Abstract | A pilot plant scale study of the tilted-plate settler was conducted by using the corrugated asbestos cement, which was a local produced material, arranged as plate settler in order to observe the performance of the unit. The cement sheets, 50 cm wide and 120 cm long, were laid parallel to each others with different plate spacing, having fixed plate end area. By varying the flow rate, in the turbidity range of 29 to 49 JTU, it was found that the flow rate of 10 m3 /h-m2 gave better results than those at 12 m3 /h-m2. The flow rate of 7.5 m3 /h-m2 gave a poor performance due to the fluctuation of water level in the flocculater. It is observed that modified overflow rate had a tendency to predict the turbidity removal efficiency, the parameter V2 R/L could also be used. |
