AbstractCharacteristics of a radial wall jet and a circular hydraulic jump created by the radial flow of a circular jet spreads as a thin layer on a smooth flat plate were studied. The characteristics being considered were: the laminar and turbulent flow profiles, variation of free surface velocity, energy and momentum coefficient, boundary layer development, momentum equation and energy dissipation of the circular hydraulic jump, length, height and location of the jump in term of pertinent dimensionless parameters. The analysis of the radial wall jet was made using the boundary layer theory of an axisymmetric flow. Experiments were conducted to verify the theoretical equations
