AbstractMany buildings are circular in plan. The bending by uniform transverse load of an annular slab which is simply supported at the outer edge and column supported at the inner edge, or simply supported at the inner edge and column supported at the outer edge is studied. The problem is solved under the assumptions that the columns do not restrain the rotation of the slab, and that the column reactions are uniformly distributed over their width along the boundary. The influence of the column number, the column width, and the ratio of the radii is studied. The deflection and stress resultants are presented in charts and tables for design purposes.
