AbstractThe author has made an experimental investigation into the behaviour of restrained T-Beams subjected to repetitions of loading with and without web reinforcement in the shear span. The results have been compared with the tests of companion beams subjected to monotonic loading. The influence of repeated loading on moment redistribution and the damage to the beams caused by incremental deflections have also been studied. A total number of seven beams were tested, of which four were subjected to repeated loading cycles and three to monotonic loading. The fixed end was simulated by preventing rotation of one support. The number of repetitions of loading was limited to the order of 15/30. It has been found that repeated loading cycles cause damage to the flexural capacity of a restrained T-beams, which may give improved results as a result of larger flexural and shear compression capacities in the positive moment compared with the support moment. There has been evidence of incremental deflections, but they are finite and tolerable
